Why AES Bio‑Soluble Ceramic Fiber Becomes The Preferred Replacement for Traditional RCF Refractory Fiber?

2025-03-27

Against the background of increasingly strict global occupational health and environmental protection regulations, the high‑temperature thermal insulation industry is undergoing important material iteration. Traditional alumina‑silicate refractory ceramic fiber, also known as RCF, has excellent high‑temperature resistance, but its poor biological persistence brings potential health risks to on‑site construction workers and long‑term operating personnel. AES alkaline‑earth silicate bio‑soluble ceramic fiber is developed to solve this industry pain point.

Main chemical components of AES fiber are silica, calcium oxide and magnesium oxide. When tiny fiber dust is inhaled into human body, these fiber fragments can be gradually dissolved and discharged through body fluid, which meets the EU Nota‑Q classification standard and Directive 97/69/EC hazard assessment requirements. It avoids the carcinogenic risk classification of conventional RCF products.

Besides outstanding biosafety performance, AES fiber retains core thermal insulation properties. Low thermal conductivity, good thermal shock resistance and light‑weight features make it perfectly adapt to intermittent heating furnaces, continuous industrial kilns, high‑temperature pipeline insulation and exhaust flue lining projects. More and more engineering contractors and end‑users are switching from RCF to AES soluble fiber to balance high‑temperature performance, worker safety and global regulatory compliance.
